I have a 1958 BSA. I have several Triumph TR6 cars from the 60's and 70's.
BSA and Triumph (cars) are no longer in business.

Where am I supposed to find a DOT approved factory muffler for them?

I do believe that most people think that if you show up in court by yourself to defend yourself you've lost already. It's your word against the cop and the judge will ignore almost any point you try to make. Not so with a good lawyer.

If I let a ticket stand that affects my insurance, it affects ALL of my vehicles and the annual premiums could get outrageous. $.02

People have rights and should be treated fairly and without bias.Every area has differing laws worded differently. Before bitching one should find out the pertinent 'letter of the law' for your area.Do not read into it anything.

If you break that 'letter of the law' then pay the fine.Fight the law appropriately as there are ways to do so.Doing it in 'ticket' court is not one and is one reason our court system is so bogged down, imho.

And I agree that the majority is paying for what the minority of riders have done, that is going way overboard with the loud pipe syndrome.Again, be smart and find out the appropriate laws for your area and the areas you will be riding in.

This statement is about double standards and is not an attack on LEO's.Two weeks ago at a criminal trial here . A thug walked that probably shouldn't have. A big problem reported by the jury afterwards was a general lack of physical evidence and the fact that a criminal investigate [LEO detective] lied to the thug and got a confession on his presence. I was taught that if you lie you are untrustworthy and incapable of being untruthful. Apparently this jury agreed or was swayed by a lie. Double standards can lead to unethical behavior and a general lack of respect or being respected. This isn't an attack on LEO's.Just my opinion.

So you didn't beat the charge. You won on a legal technicality. Big difference, being guilty and winning on a technicality (ie, AM vs PM) and actually proving that you were innocent of the charge against you.
I see your point, but if a cop wants to hold me to the letter of the law, then what the fk exempts him from it? If I make a mistake and he wants to fine me for it, then why should he be absolved of his mistake?

Wfiw, in all cases I was not quilty. The cop just gave me a way out without the facts being my word against his. That judge had no business being there. How can he break the law and then convict me?

I don't understand your thinking. Cops and judges who hold people to the law should obey those laws. That's a technicality?
