First trip?
 \\;
You definitely need to experience Glencoe or the Chip Campgrounds. I stayed at glenco my first 2 years, would not stay there again but definitely worth the first couple of trips. Glenco is right across from full throttle saloon, which is an oasis of party places. \\;If you want to sleep don't stay at either. Whatever you do ride and see all you can. You can see downtown sturgis in one morning, spend the rest of your time riding.

I would suggest staying at Hog Heaven, quiet @ night and affordable.
 \\;
What the others said except tearing down camp. Never had to. Never had a problem.
 \\;
 \\;
I'll be there this year, but staying in a house.
 \\;
Good luck.

The Lamphere Ranch is a semi-quit campground for around 15 per night.. \\; It's right next to the Glencoe and across from the Full Throttle Saloon. \\; Been there the last three years, not once has anyone ever touched my stuff. \\; It's nice for it's location, right in the middle of all the action but the action isn't going down in your camp. \\; They also prepare reasonably priced meals in their kitchen and have a store for the basics on site. \\; Showers are clean, outhouses are cleaned daily. \\; Some of the freindliest people I have ever met. \\; Temps can get hot during the day, rain in the afternoon, evenings are comfortable but can get cool.

You will have at least one storm blow through, probably with hail. \\;\\\\\\; I used to stay at Tilford Gulch on 90 between Sturgis and Rapid. \\;\\\\\\; They charged by the night, had clean hot showers, food on site and quiet hours started at 11.

Stayed at the Gulch last year and will do it again this time.
 \\;
Keep an eye out for me. I will be the guy with the sunburn and a HUGE smile.

Elkview Campgrounds on I-90 about 6 miles before (east) Sturgis is $20/nite. No reservations needed. Very good shower buildings. Quiet with good amenities. \\; Have stayed there for the past 5 years. \\; I may rain but not for long. Three years ago one night got below freezing. \\; Uaually very comfortable overnite. \\; Even 100 during the day is not bad. \\; Low humidity.
