Trailer questions...
This is about a trailer for the bike to go on, not for one behind the bike!!!
I work out of town a lot, and my bike sits at home during the week. I want to start taking it with me so I can ride after work.
I have a 4x8 open utility with a 3/4" plywood floor and stake sides. Trailer has a 2000lb axle, riding on 4.80x8 tires (590 lbs each @ 60psi).
I have used this trailer to move my lighter Honda, but not too sure about putting my Road King on there, much less taking it on a 400 mile road trip. I am worried more about the tires than anything. The smaller tires make for a lower deck and easier loading. I could go with 4.80 x 12 tires, which would only raise the floor by 2". Each tire from WallyWorld would be about $40 each. I could put the original tires back on, which were 20.5 x 8 x 10's, which would raise the deck by 1", but the tires themselves run $60 each, and the rims will run about $20 each.
I also considered buying an enclosed trailer, but that is more money spent that I could spend on the bike...
What do yall think?

RE: Trailer questions...
I think if you buy the enclosed tralier then you will have a good place to park your bike while you are at work. I never leve my bike to the elements or worst yet not to be there when you get there.

I have a 6 x 12 \\;x 6 foot tall enclosed trailer that I insulated, added a roof a/c, and bought indoor/ outdoor carpet that fits the trailer. I have removable wheel chocks and the carpet rolls up if I need it to. Already had a generator that would work with my a/c. Its quiet and fairly fuel efficient. Not only can I haul the bikes out of the weather but I can sleep in it if need be. 6 x 12 x 6 \\;is tight for two bikes but it works. I have about $4,000 tied up in this trailer but it is comfortable for me and pulls better than any trailer I have ever had before.

If it is a quick or temporary trip, get the 12" tires. \\; Much better at high speeds. \\; If you will be away for any length of time, get the enclosed trailer to keep your bike safe, and out of the elements.
