A 1400 Sportster doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. You're looking at an 85" motor, which would be a new motor for HD. Why not simply put in an 88". If they want to make the Sporty faster it would make more sense to simply offer a "tuned" version of the 1200. You could easily get the additional hp that the extra 200 cc's would give.
&nbsp\\; You make a good point.&nbsp\\; The manager said HD needs to to start appealing more to the younger crowd, so I'm assuming a 1400 Sporty would be a good marketing ploy since the 1200 has been out so long.

Sadly if they really want to capture the younger crowd they're gonna have to put a full fairing on it and start a stunt team.

&nbsp\\; Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with you.

I thought 'appealing to the younger crowd' was one of the reasons for releasing the XR1200, which is already available in selected locations.&nbsp\\; Would make more sense to just release it in the U.S. instead of investing R&amp\\;D money in a new Sportster.

How about the Sporty MPG? 90mpg, 120 in 'hybrid' mode!

At the local dealer today, I asked the manager if he could tell me if the rumor I heard about bring the Deuce back for '09. He said he did'nt know, but they will be introducing some new models, including(according to him for what it's worth), a 1400cc Sportster.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; We'll know for sure Tuesday.
&nbsp\\;
um..all the dealers already have 2009 sportsters on the floor.&nbsp\\; There are no changes this year to the sportster line up. I already saw them.

No way on the 1400 Sporty. Its not necessary. Buell gets 105 hp out of the 1200 so the potential is there to make power already.

No Deuce. It didn't sell well enough before. Why would they bring it back?
