i wear justin work boots, with rubber soles. they look and feel great with the cushion insoles. they come in either black or brown. you can get your boots resoled for $30-40 depending where you go. good luck and put them boots on!

Years ago I rode in Shark Skin (Some High Dollar) Cowboy boots and never had any problems but I was never out in the rain. Most likely this time take a pair of Justin Ropers or Paddock boots down and get them resoled with Vibram.

Be really careful to get a place that does good work. \\; A hack job on a nice pair of boots is a terrible thing and some of these places just slap on a sole and the stitching is horrible. \\; Find a place someone can recommend - that Horsetown south of Atlanta can probably recommend a place.

I ride English so hadn't looked at the Ariat western boots until now and they do have a better sole with what they call duratread.

I ride in a pair of boots I had made out west at Paul Bonds in Nogales (it was part of a quest) when I solo rode the bike across country. I had mini lug soles put on them and they work great. \\; I've used the leather soles as well, just a little more careful.

Every time I ride something besides my Vibram lug sole Chippewas I regret it. Too easy to slip on sand, oil, rocks, whatever. Like riding with roller skates on.
