Default Black Helmet - Heat?

New rider. I just bought a new Shoei J-Wing helmet. Guy asked me what color. I live in Colorado - sun is pretty hot in the summer. He assured me that a black helmet doesn't get any hotter than any other color helmet - sounds fishy to me. Any truth to that?

I stupidly bought a black car - paying the price now.

Thanks in advance

I've ridden with a black full face helmet for past 10 years.&nbsp\\; Never noticed any additional heat.

I've ridden with both black and white and don't really notice any diff. Just get one with a good venting system an you'll be ok.

I would think flat black would likely heat up. Gloss black might reflect a little better. I usually get white or silver here in sunny Florida.

I've worn a black helmet for more than 30 years in Sunnyer South Florida. Before the black one I wore a white helmet. I felt no difference at all.

Black is the fastest color for a car, but for a bike white is fastest. However that wasn't your question. Black helmets are just as hot as a silver or grey or white helmet.
