Black Helmet - Heat?

I've worn a black helmet for more than 30 years in Sunnyer South Florida. Before the black one I wore a white helmet. I felt no difference at all.

I would think flat black would likely heat up. Gloss black might reflect a little better. I usually get white or silver here in sunny Florida.

Ive ridden with white and black and now have dark, dark gray. No heat difference. Wish I had bought a different color in terms of visibility, though.

Carry some aluminum foil with you. It comes in really handy when the hot mid-day sun comes beating down upon your black helmet. But you have to wrap your helmet just right making sure you run the foil from front to rear and tuck it up under the front. That way wind wont lift it. Though if you are going to travel interstate highways with a foiled head, you'll have to duct tape it.
