I was at Seminole Harley in Sanford

Wiseguy, I'll have to remember that... Is that why the t-shirts cost 25 bucks?

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to take the course and see what I'm comfortable with. Worst case scenario I'll buy a used metric to ride for a couple months.

That's just one man's opinion. I used to buy aftermarket crap to save a few bucks, but now, after learning the hard way, I keep my bike 100% Harley. You get what you pay for.

If you buy a metric, all of your friends will ask "How come you didn't get a Harley?"

Buy a bike that you feel comfortable on. The decision as to what model rests solely with you.

Not very experienced here myself, I take my MSF course next weekend.&nbsp\\; Excited and can't wait.&nbsp\\; I already have bought my bike and it is sitting in the garage waiting on me.&nbsp\\;Dyna Super Glide Custom. &nbsp\\;Read many posts about buying a starter bike to begin with and also many posts of people saying to get what you want and are comfortable with.&nbsp\\; I wanted something that I was going to have around for along time cause I didn't want to deal with selling or trading in to "upgrade" later.&nbsp\\; Everyone of us are different and you have to decide for yourself what is the most comfortable choice for you.&nbsp\\; Good luck in your decision.

Get your license, &nbsp\\;find a dealer that will let you test ride serval models.&nbsp\\; What ever you buy you will progress faster than you think if you practice riding.&nbsp\\; You will do fine.&nbsp\\; I started&nbsp\\;riding again after 35 years started again on a Ultra. My wife started on a Sportster 1200L and then went to a Honda 250 and now back on the harley.&nbsp\\; My 29 year old son took the MSF class and bought a 2008 Ultra.&nbsp\\; It is up to you.&nbsp\\; Buy a Harley so you too can spend a lot of money on shiney stuff.

at your size i would suggest going with a dyna or softail, although not much bigger than a sporty (4 inch wheelbase), they do offer more of a bike with a bigger engine and weight. you can look at the rockers, which have a little more stretch to them. good luck and let us know what you go with, pics too!

Make sure you shop around, I've seen much bigger selections than Seminole's.

'09's come out Tuesday. You can get a substantial discount on an '08 right now. Don't let them charge you for dealer prep or double freight charges. All of the real prices are on the Harley website. Go to dealer with a large inventory and sit on each bike.
