Importing a bike to Australia
Hi all,
Hoping someone can give me some advice.
It seems to me that buying a bike from the US and returning it to Melbourne Australia, would be a lot cheaper than buying one here.
Have seen some great cheap bikes on e-bay, waht I would like some hepl with is
1/ is there anyone(a company) in the US that would check a bike out if I found one I liked.
2/ Shipping- Can anyone advise of a good company to use to ship it to Australia
Any advice would be great
All the best
Chris

You'll have to own the bike a certain period of time before importing it and then there's the import duty and the freight charges. I think it still works out cheaper if you had the time to do it.

Be VERY careful of the "cheap" bike deals on ebay. There have been many scams going on there where you loose your money. If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.
There have been many bikes worth $15K or so that were listed for $4k which should tell you something is wrong with that. The ad usually gets pulled as soon as ebay is notified.
