I put my jiffy down at every stop. Most people agree with this method because they usually beep a few times and give me the number 1 sign.....[8D]

both down and up at the same time for me, leaving it in first at all times, unless you know it's going to be a long wait, then maybe toe it into neutral. just don't forget being in neutral, it's never good to take off in neutral, especially with that impatient cager right behind you
&nbsp\\;
How do you take off in neutral?&nbsp\\; That's awesome.&nbsp\\; I'm such an amateur.&nbsp\\; My bike just sits there.

Great replies. I find myself using the right foot on the rear brake in uphill situations.

Seems most that keep the right foot on the brake are riding sportsters.

Usually both down at same time, sometimes left first due to right using the brake.&nbsp\\; Both up and on the floorboards the moment the clutch starts to grab, I know the bike aint fallin over.&nbsp\\; Usually stay in first gear, sometimes in neutral for those long lights... unless I decide to just blow em.&nbsp\\; IF I do go to neutral I try to wait until at least one car is stopped behind me.&nbsp\\;

Both feet down at same time can save you when you hit that last big LUMP in the crappy pavement right as you stop.&nbsp\\;

I can take off up a steep hill without using the brakes as a crutch.

I almost always go into neutral at a traffic light.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; What am I gonna do, run out into the cross-traffic? Hell, I might as well jump off the damn thing...
Take a look at this.&nbsp\\; I never sit stopped in neutral but I doubt I could get out of the way if someone was going to slam into me.

Think about it...being in neutral isn't going to do a damn thing for you if you don't look for an escape route EVERY TIME you come to a stop.&nbsp\\; Sometimes you'll have one and sometimes you won't, but if you don't look for one you'll be&nbsp\\;more of a sitting duck than you'd have to be.&nbsp\\; Anything might do, even running into the stopped car next to you or trying to jump a curb if no other path exists...better than becoming a sandwich, ya think?

Left foot down, right foot down, stay in first gear, watch your *** in the rear view mirror.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Neutral is for warming up in the driveway.
