Motorcycle trannys do not have synchro's in them, they are constant mesh trannys. But when the shift levers are pushed they are pushing the shifter fork against the gear. this will wear down the shift fork and gear.&nbsp\\; Don't do it!!

Also, if you keep your foot on it and hit a bump you'll be shifting whether you want to or not.&nbsp\\; Take it off and save it as a spare.

Ride well,

OK I'll bite. What is the difference between a syncro and a constant mesh tranny? I mean exactly please?

JBaker,&nbsp\\; Constant mesh is what bikes have, gears are always spinning on the shaft&nbsp\\;with the mating gear, each gear has lugs on it called dogs that are pushed together to make things lock into gear when you shift.

JBaker, Synchros are little clutch assemblies in the gears that make the gears slow to the same speed as the gear you want to go to so that there is no grinding as you change gears. Its what std tranny cars have.&nbsp\\; Usually reverse doesnt have a synchro, thats why it will grind easily.
