Default So... slit in tire about 3" long just off center all the way through the core

Just went for little ride didn't get more than a mile and rear tire blew doing about 35 in a turn, glad it wasn't faster! Pushed bike home and inspected Dunlop(less than 4K on it) and discovered slit in tire, the question is... defect in tire or someone messing w/ my bike, either way bad news and glad I wasn't hurt, bike had zero control with a rear totally flat in seconds. Any thoughts?

I don't think someone would go to the trouble to lay on the ground and slit the bottom of your tire. prob. road hazard or defect.

That's what I'm wondering, low mileage tire splitting and I check air weekly always 36 psi. in rear.
