How much will Dealer give up?

RE: How much will Dealer give up?
A dealer here just marked down there last few 08 models to $1000 over msrp, plus all fees. \\; They were at $2500 over msrp. \\; HD bikes are really selling well here.

FWIW I bought my Sporty in Feb, and the dealer came off 1k, and a discount of 10% on anything I bought that day. They sold like 15 bikes that weekend so not willing to do much at that time. As for the VIP service, we have the samething at my dealer, and I got it only because I knew I would not do the work on my bike. I figure you need to keep the bike for 12k miles to break even. Have fun and be safe.

The VIP pass allows you to buy the first 20,000 miles of service for a 36% discount. With my dealer you also get a new set of tires, and new battery when needed. My dealer will also detail my bike after every service. Seemed to be a good deal for me since I was going to use the dealer for me services. I figure it takes 12,000 miles to brake even on the deal.

I just bought my 105th anniv wide glide for 18k out the door - that included all fees/title/prep/license/freight, sales tax and included $500 in free accessories and the factory security system. \\; Call around to all the dealers in the area as well as dealers in nearby cities. \\; Get your loan pre approved or have cash ready - I can't see a dealer passing up a reasonable offer.

Bikes aren't selling at all down here in Houston, just asked a salesman today and he said nothign is moving right now. Most of the dealers here are offering $1000 or even $2000 gift cards if you buy now. Harley sales have been dropping, thus the production cutback, and the economy is making it that much worse. Its a buyer's market at the moment.

Just visited Battlefield HD in Gettysburg PA. \\; They have signs all over the place advertising $1K off 2008 Big Twins and $2K off Anniversary models. \\; I bought my 2003 there and thought they were first class.

The 2009 will be coming out soon, so wait until they do. \\; After the new models come out they will be selling 08s for 2,000 to 2,500 below MSRP. \\; If your dealership won't, shop around.

It all depends on weather you are paying for it with CASH or CREDIT, I went to two dealerships to purchase the old lady a new bike, before I bought her the used one I just sold, after crunching the numbers the dealer was only going to come off of the price of a new softail about $400.00, I figured it would be more than that for cash, but I was told they would deal more for credit, they get a "kickback" for you buying on credit.
