Loud pipes

RE: Loud pipes
I understand the concept of freedom to do what you want as many have referred to. However, the comments like the one above & the "because I can" totally surprised me. Do people really think that they can do whatever they want just because they can. I mean where does it stop. Are straight pipes while driving past a funeral service OK just because you can & you shouldn't care what others think? I know my original comment centered upon straight pipes in the city, but from some of the responses I've read it seems that some feel they can do whatever they want because it's their right. I guess it's all a matter of how far your personnal freedoms extend in a public area.

RE: Loud pipes
I'll pass on the vote but I will say this...
My V&H's have saved me on 5 occassions already...but not from cagers...from DEER. There is something about the tone they must not like because what probably would have been disasters became close calls as they scattered. I run V&H big radius with baffles IN and they are plenty loud for me. My brother runs drag pipes on his scoot.
It's all good unless you yak on the gas at 7AM outside my bedroom window. It's about respect for those around you.

mwike,
That quote of mine has been taken out of context. I was actually referring to the pecker comment early in the thread. In reference to having loud pipes as a way of garnering attention or making others think you're cool. Hence, the ***** extension.
What I find most troubling, is your choice to force your views and opinions on others. As much as loud pipes might offend you, your opinion does much the same to others. Why is your opinion more valuable than mine? Tolerance goes both ways dude. There are a lot worse things to be in this world than a biker with loud pipes! Try to keep it in perspective. What is loud and annoying to me are junker cars with huge speakers rattling my teeth with that rap garbage and Hondas (cars and motorcycles) with fart cans. While I disagree with their choice of noise making, I respect their right to do so.
And hell no, I don't believe anyone has the right to be an obnoxious bunghole, with or without loud pipes. Cracking the exhaust along a funeral procession, driving by a church or school in service or anything else of that nature is not cool. You should not assume that everyone who likes loud pipes is one who 'needs' a ***** extension.
FWIW, "loud" is a very subjective thing. My "loud" pipes will be Samson Big Guns 3, not drag pipes.

RE: Loud pipes
If the politicians want to fix something then why don’t they start with all the illegal immigrants that seem to use all of the services that this country seems to afford them? Then they can work on the people talking on cell phones while driving. After that why not clean up their own back yards and kick all the crooked politicians out of office. After that why not do something constructive like getting the cost of medical services down. Maybe some tax cuts, better schools so our kids could actually read and do math when they graduate, get some of those people off the welfare programs who seem to think that they are entitled to sit around all day without doing a damn thing and have the rest of us pay for it. Then and maybe then, we could look at who might be making too much noise with a motorcycle that we paid for with our own money that is made from working a 40-60 hour work week. [:@]

Are we getting political here???
I do not understand what immigrants have to do with some peoples attitude that they have the right to keep working people awake in the nights because 'they can' make noice!?![:@]
I do not understand either why the fact that other types of criminality give anybody the same right?
My standpoint is that one can do what one can do as long as it does not hurt innocent people![8D]
Some people in this thread claim that it is not only ok to hurt innocent people,
but also takes the right to decide what is harmful or annoying or not.[>:]
And I that thought that americans were concerned of other peoples rights...[&o]
I'm getting more and more disappointed for every post[]

RE: Loud pipes
I didnt vote.... Because "loud" is subjective.. Your opinion of loud might not be the same as mine. I have THunderHeaders on my RK I dont think its to loud, however someone elses opinion might very...
Im not sure anyone is getting "political", I think they are pointing out that there are a ton of more serous issues that Americans and Gov officials could / should worry about over "loud" motorcycles... A viewpoint that I totally agree with by the way...
