Spring is here-First real ride!
I took delivery of my 2006 FXDWGI in January. Luckily the winter has been mild, but even so I only put 300 miles on my bike in a little over 2 months due to the weather.
The weather forcast looked great today ( I'm in NC ). I rode out from the city after breakfast and began to meander through farmland on lovely two lane roads. Nice dips, twisties, and rolling hills through the south central part of the state. You could smell the spring in the air-OK you could also smell the cows too! I am still trying to be good about the 500 mile break in period, and I did keep my bike under 50 MPH most of the time.
You can see below how I have my bike set up. I haven't had a dyno tune yet-but will at 1000 miles. I couldn't believe how good the bike felt! When I would pull on the throttle the bike just seemed to effortlessly accelerate. No hesitation, no flat spots. My other bike was an old Honda that I sold years ago. This is my first Harley. I can't really describe what it was like. I know each of you remember your first real ride on your first HD-but this was really special for me. I can't wait to see what it's like once it's dyno'd!
I ate lunch at a little diner in one of the many small towns I passed through. Kinda fun blasting down the road at 50, then the speed limit changes to 20-35 and you come across a little town. Nothing better than NC sweet tea on a warm spring afternoon![sm=happybounce.gif]
As I came back into town, my local HD dealership was having a picnic outside. There must have been 200 bikes. I parked mine and spent an hour or so meeting folks and looking at everybody's bikes. Great way to end the ride.
Got back home an realized I put over 250 miles on my bike. What a fine day! Now if my ears would just stop ringing from my pipes!

My daughter just moved from Syracuse, NY to Greensboro, NC. She can't believe how nice the weather is. Of course, she calls every day to rub it in!
I got my first ride in today - it was 45-50 degrees, but the sun was out and the bikes ran great. Wahooo!

Great post! Glad you were able to enjoy this wonderful weather, too.
It was almost 80 degrees here in Central Va. both yesterday and today. Rode both days, too! Went almost 200 miles today with a small group of friends. You're right, the cows do smell like spring is here.

Sunburned face.....took the winter fairing off, and rode all day. Wind in my face, motor purring along, pipes sounding great, even saw a few less clothed females. I also got a few "nice bike", and "nice sound". Yes, I am a biker, and I have "Big Radius" pipes. Living a dream, bring on summer.

It was almost 60 degrees here in Wisconsin yesterday! It was great to get out and ride even though we got caught in the rain. Normally 60 and rain would make for a miserable ride but it has been so long since we have been out..........Warmer weather has to be soon I hope!
