Default LOW mileage oil change necessary?

My wife has a 2008 Sporty 883.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
She bought it last August (10 months ago).
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
The bike has only been ridden 300 miles.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
NOW....I don't NEED any "Get out and ride" comments because we already KNOW that, but things beyond our control have gotten in the way.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
(She's an ER Specialist and Medical Director and works nights and weekends)

&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Question is:&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; Shouldn't I go ahead and change the oil since it's been almost a year on the original fliuids?&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Obviously it isn't going to hurt anything to do it, but should we wait until the Fall?&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;We've got time (finally) to ride and have 500 miles or so of trips planned in the next 2 months.
Opinions greatly appreciated.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;
I WISH THESE SILLY ////////// SLASH-MARK THINGS WOULD GO AWAY !!!!!!!!!!

the moco would say change it, but i would say your ok.&nbsp\\; but it wouldnt be too much trouble to drain and drop in some new oil.&nbsp\\; i would leave the filter alone, its going to get changed at 1,000 anyways.&nbsp\\; but i would ride it without a worry, i had my 1k service last year around october and have rode it since the weather has gotten nice.&nbsp\\; so i say your just fine to ride.&nbsp\\; now... get out and ride that thing!

oil and filter is cheap. I'd change it just to get the break-in chunks out of the engine.&nbsp\\; i'd also change it before i put it away for the winter if you live in that kind of climate.

I agree change it at 1000 miles or at the end of the season before you put it away.

I wouldn't change it.&nbsp\\; With the low mileage, I doubt very seriously that the bike has been ridden hard.&nbsp\\; Just wait and change it at around 1,000.

I'm gonna have to disagree.&nbsp\\; You should change the oil and filter.&nbsp\\; The filter has in it metal particles form break in period.&nbsp\\; The oil has/may be slightly contaminated with minute particles and moisture.&nbsp\\; If you wait for the 1K change it may be next year until it's changed.&nbsp\\; My $0.02...

Opinions are like......&nbsp\\;opinions. Everybody has one.

Personally, I would change it.
