LOW mileage oil change necessary?
My wife has a 2008 Sporty 883. \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
She bought it last August (10 months ago).
 \\;\\\\\\;
The bike has only been ridden 300 miles. \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
NOW....I don't NEED any "Get out and ride" comments because we already KNOW that, but things beyond our control have gotten in the way.
 \\;\\\\\\;
(She's an ER Specialist and Medical Director and works nights and weekends)
 \\;\\\\\\;Question is: \\;\\\\\\; Shouldn't I go ahead and change the oil since it's been almost a year on the original fliuids? \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;Obviously it isn't going to hurt anything to do it, but should we wait until the Fall? \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;
 \\;\\\\\\;We've got time (finally) to ride and have 500 miles or so of trips planned in the next 2 months.
Opinions greatly appreciated.

the moco would say change it, but i would say your ok. \\; but it wouldnt be too much trouble to drain and drop in some new oil. \\; i would leave the filter alone, its going to get changed at 1,000 anyways. \\; but i would ride it without a worry, i had my 1k service last year around october and have rode it since the weather has gotten nice. \\; so i say your just fine to ride. \\; now... get out and ride that thing!

oil and filter is cheap. I'd change it just to get the break-in chunks out of the engine. \\; i'd also change it before i put it away for the winter if you live in that kind of climate.

I wouldn't change it. \\; With the low mileage, I doubt very seriously that the bike has been ridden hard. \\; Just wait and change it at around 1,000.

I'm gonna have to disagree. \\; You should change the oil and filter. \\; The filter has in it metal particles form break in period. \\; The oil has/may be slightly contaminated with minute particles and moisture. \\; If you wait for the 1K change it may be next year until it's changed. \\; My $0.02...
