Periodic Hot Smell
Recently I have noticed a hot smell on various occassions, I have checked all lube levels, all ok bike runs fine just an odd smell near rear cylinder. Any comments or ideas would be appreciated. Ride Safe.

Get a mirror and a flashlight and look at your transmission mainshaft seal. \\; It's possible that you may have a small leak that isn't dripping. \\; If you're using gear oil in your transmission, \\; it doesn't take much of a leak to smell it.

don't know if this is your problem but when I switched my trans oil over to Castrol gear oil ,I could smell that when the bike got good and hot. usally when stopped at a light and in stop and go traffic.I switched it to amsoil 20/50 and theres no more Gear oil smell.,
