Steel Toe riding boots?
I was told that steel toe boots are not good riding boots because they get cold in temps below 50 degrees. Is this right?

So what are the boots supposed to do when they are colder than 50 degrees? \\; Unless they are going to shatter if they hit the ground at speed I wouldn't NOT wear steel toed boots! \\; I went down last week, 35mph, and the leather was completely ripped off the toe! \\; \\; If it hadn't been for the steel I might have lost a toe (for sure my right foot would've been more fked up than just the sprain I'm dealing with now!) \\;

If you are worried about frostbite or something in colder than 50 degree temps, then wear some nice wool (or heated) socks in cooler weather.

Wear the steel toe or composite toe. Having worn safety shoes for the past 20 years in my line of work I can say that neither steel toe or composite toe are better than the other when it comes to cold. Especially at 50 degrees. Not cold at all.
I feel your pain Cryptoboy. I had some yahoo pull out in front of me Saturday and I was glad to have the safety shoes on after looking at how far down in ground the toe of my boot after I went down.

I love my Redwings. Hard to beat a good steel toe work boot for riding. \\;

Steel toed boots will get cold when the temps are in the MINUS
range. Not really an issue for riding unless you ride in the Yukon
in January.
 \\;
For safety sake, I would definitely ride with steel. Sure makes me
cringe when I see guys riding with flipflops. (Some HD riders too!)

Steel toes for the saftey aspect alone.........they get colder when temps get
below 50 degrees ???
I work outside all winter in Maine....steel toed boots are mandatory in my line
of work.....plenty of days and weeks with temps well below zero.
With a good pair of socks you won't notice the cold....
