I'm lucky as I have a neighbor with a softtail custom. He has bub straight pipes so all the neighbors think it is him making all the noise. My RKC with SE mufflers is quiet to them!!!!

 

My neighbors are so jealous it's not even funny. Or is this all in my head? Oh, well.........

 

I just put the SE Pro slip ons on. They take end caps. The cops, the dealer, and everyone else told me to get the sport taper caps for them. They weren't kidding. Firstly, it is not that much louder than the stock pipes were, but you can hear them. Second, the pipes are definitely at resonance. The bike is actually quieter from the riding position than it was before, and if I keep off of it, it purrs like a kitten. Some of the other caps available, from what I understand, are quite a bit louder. I guess you could get different caps for them for runs, etc, but I can't see why. If the bike runs good, then that's what I am after. I also don't want it to sound like washing machine charlie. It sounds better. No rattling, and any of the other issues I had with the other pipes. Less annoying, IMO.
