RE: Wife wants to ride?
When wife decided she didn't want to ride on the back, she signed up for the safety course. SHE ASKED ME TO COME. I never offered any advise, instruction, critism, or suggestions. She passed with flying colors. Bought her a Sportie, and 2 years later upgraded to a Nightrain. Best riding partner you can have. You just have to get used to people staring at your wife. Girls on Harleys all leathered up still draw attention.

RE: Wife wants to ride?
My wife had never rode either. I went a sat through part of the classroom portion the first day. & went the next two days (along with about five other couples we ride with) to watch the ride portion. It didn't phase her, as a matter of fact, she liked it. Having all of us cheering her on & giving her support made it easier. At some point, once she starts riding there will be a time that she will have to ride past a group of people. Might as well get her accustom to it now. Just my .02

I guess what I'm trying to say may be clearer put like this.
She's a big girl, be willing to stay home, or go with, ie: be supportive. Just ask her, and let her decide, she will let ya know what she would like in this area, don't ya think?

I agree: either let her take it herself or if you take it with her, do your best to just smile a lot and other wise NOT say much. The instructors know what they are doing and do well getting new riders to learn things in the proper sequence. Enjoy.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have asked her to be truthful and honest with me. We have been married for 29 years and pretty much do things together. We sill discuss more and make a decision. Thanks again, helps to see others perspective.

Congrats on new ride member, talk to her about her feelings on you going with her. How long since you attended? As far as others in a class I know from Instructing other courses it is better that only students be there. Unless of course your an instructor, but even then I would have hesitation on having wife in class. Gets ugly sometimes if things dont go perfectly as planned. Wish her luck and give her the advice she needs when she needs it, don't bird-dog her and critize her every move. Have fun and enjoy the time together.

Why not ask HER if she wants you to take it with her or not? My ol' man had plenty of riding experience but I didn't want to take the class alone. I found a friend to go with me and everything went fine.
So, she may want you to go because she wants someone there for support or she may want you to stay home so she doesn't feel like she has to impress you. Sounds like you need to ask HER.
Just my $.02

RE: Wife wants to ride?
My husband and I took the class together. It was fine and I was glad he was there and we both learned alot and both passed. He has a new Street Bob and I have the new 1200 Sportster Low and cant wait for the weather to change so we can go riding. Did ride a little bit Sunday but it was still pretty chilly!
I would ask her, if she wants you there, go, if not, well, go riding with your buddies!
