Default Rear brake lock-up

2006 EG Classic here. Back wheel locks up all too frequently when braking hard.
Been riding since 1962. Had 3 GW's (last one 2001 GW 1800, 25,000 miles) and numerous other imports and never had the problem so I don't think it's my fault. As my son has told me for the last 38 years, "I know what I'm doing!!"

Anyone have any thoughts?

tried to post a response, but couldn't. Maybe they'll fix this site one day!

Check this web site. I've been thinking about it too. My electra glide rear brakes lock up way faster than any other bike I've had also.

&nbsp\\;A couple of questions, 1) have you changed the rear tire lately and 2) is your rear tire at suggested inflation pressure? If the tire pressure is high you have reduced your "contact" patch. Are you downshifting the same time you are braking, engine braking will help lock up the wheel.

Same here, my '06 RK seems to lock up the rear wheel way too fast.

Change to a better brake pad. Lyndall Z comes to mind. Somebody on this site did a test on the tcbbrake device but never did a follow up to tell us his results. Some have said theyre a waste of money. Would be nice to hear from some who have used them.

It's a lot easier the rest your foot on the brake peddle than squeeze the fronts.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Every bikes different, but I think HD got the rear brakes right on this one but that big foot pad make is easy to put too much pressure on the rears.
