Were you nervous when you got your new bike?

RE: Were you nervous when you got your new bike?
Guess I was "normal" after reading posts from others. [sm=shades.gif]
Picked the bike up. All went well. She's home now. Big 27 miles on her. Little woobly on stops and take offs but I'm hitting a parking lot and scenic back roads on Friday.
Thanks for all the comments.  \\; And yeah, I need a new username.

I was nervous with my RK, because I never owned a bike this large before. \\; I even wore a full face helmet on out first ride together, in case I fell flat on my face. \\; I was definetly pleased to find it was easier to handle than my Sporty, and went back to my regular half \\; helmet after 30 minutes.

When I bought my 03 Fatboy it had been over 10 years since my last ride.
 \\;
No test ride, walked into the dealer, told them what I wanted and filled out the credit app.... 15 minutes later I was asked if I wanted to take it today...?
 \\;
I looked outside at the clouds and said no... I'll come get it tomorrow.... In-laws dropped us off the next day to take delivery. \\;Wife jumped on the back and I gave a quick "how to be packed" lesson and off we went... with her doing everything I told her not to do... talk about learning curve!

Sad story from April this year about a 56 yo New York man who picked up his new Harley. \\; Crashed into a cage leaving the parking lot. \\; Dead. \\; \\; Hadn't ridden in 30 years.
 \\;
Glad I opted to have the dealer deliver mine.

Yeah. Tragic. Happened at Moroney's H-D in New Windsor, NY. The same place that firmly planted a H-D bug in my azz. Now look!
 \\;
Thankfully, my trip home was uneventful. Lil' wobbly on takeoffs and stops but I only put about 20 miles or so on her. STILL nervous! [X(]

Yep, I was a little nervous. It is an expensive investment you do not want to mess up. I think I felt that way until the first time I rode in the rain (on purpose). After slip, sliding around all afternoon in the wet the bike and I bonded.

Had mine delivered in the rain in 12/07 \\;and I sat on it in the garage for 3 hours till the rain stopped.
Went out cautiously for a 10 mile loop around some back roads and it felt good.
Had a MC license for 33 years but rode mostly dirt bikes in the woods and the occasional street legal enduro.
The handling skills of years of woods riding helped more than I though it would.
Good luck and enjoy.
