The basement of the Alamo
&nbsp\\;
I don't think the Alamo has a basement.&nbsp\\; Besides, I think it's been reclaimed by the Mexicans and is now a taco joint.

Seriously, Bob... if you wanna see something different, I'd head down to Big Bend and the Davis Mountains.&nbsp\\; While East Texas and the Hill Country is great riding, it's very similar to southeastern Oklahoma (except without the imbreeding).&nbsp\\; In my opinion, if you are going to see the sights around there, Alpine makes the best home base place to say.&nbsp\\; Lots of motels, restaurants and the Railroad Blues.&nbsp\\; There's a ton of nice day rides from there.&nbsp\\; If you come down this way, make sure you take 349 from Iraan to Dryden.
&nbsp\\;
Hope you can make it down this way.&nbsp\\; We love taking Okie money.

Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo is pretty impressive. While your there eat at the Big Texan Steak House and try to finish off their 72oz steak. Take a little tour down Route 66. Pretty damn cool.

Palo Duro Canyon is the 2nd largest canyon in the U.S.&nbsp\\; (guess which one is bigger).&nbsp\\; It was a nice, scenic ride in a cage.&nbsp\\; It would be great on a bike in the fall or spring before the temp gets too high.&nbsp\\; And the Big Texan Steak House is great!&nbsp\\; Didn't try the 72 ouncer though.&nbsp\\; Almost made me full just looking at it.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
If you're out for several days, I'd go to N.E. New Mexico from there.

What are you lookin to do ???
Texas is a BIG STATE, the whole state is different. We have the desert and the piney woods, we have the a lot of the gulf coast. You can ride the border of Mexico, I wouldn't suggest crossing the border in a bike oh. We border 3 states, the gulf of mexico and the Gulf of Mexico. You can cross from Texas also into Lousiana and do a lot of things there. Or go across into New Mexico into the Rocky mountains and drive down to El PAso and ride into the Davis Mountains and around Big Bend.
Texas is too big of a state for you to see all of it in yer life time.
