Default What would you do

if your your bike was stolen?
I posted weeks ago about my broinlaws Road King Custom being stolen in Vegas during Laughlin. It was his pride and joy with $25K upgrades. He is still waiting for the settlement.
He has been going thru stages of depression. He told me last week that he may not buy another bike.
This would be sad because we always had good rides.
So in my mind I'm sure I would get back on the horse. How aboutyou guy's.Any of you been in this situation or know of anyone?

He needs to get over it, and buy a new bike.
What are the odds of having two bikes stolen?

+1 on Big P's idea.

the only problem I see is the insurance companies want to keep track of your upgrades and their replacement costs accordingly. I'm pretty sure that'll increase rates we pay, but I'm no insurance guru.

wish him luck. I'd probably try to ride again, always lock the bike, and get some security... baseball bat, ccw, big stick etc...

Do what???? His bike is stolen and now he doesn't want to buy another one because he is depressed. Geez, it ain't like he lost a wife or dog or something, take the insurance check and go to the Harley store and buy another one. What better cure for depression is there than buying a new Harley? I suspect he just doesn't WANT another bike, period.

I was into classic cars and trucks for a lot of years, in fact I still have one. It’s the same with bikes. Most of them could be hot wired in seconds and gone. It was when I convinced myself that this stuff can be replaced and there are always things that I would have changed if I did it again, I started feeling more comfortable in enjoying them. I would ask your friend what he plans to do different for his next build.

Get another bike. Learn from last bike. Its hard to steal my motorcycle if its parked where I can see it. It sleeps inside under lock and key with a enough fire power to make it somewhat a challenge to get. Watched almost all the time. Not saying that my bike can't be stolen. To get it they have to work for it.

I have GAP insurance on mine. Yeah I know alot of guys laugh about getting it but hey, my ride gets stolen and my loan gets paid off AND I get $1000 toward a new ride? How can a few hundred bucks up front possibly be bad when you get a deal like that? I would probably get a Road King standard.....nah Id get a Night Train with apes!

Not much you can do unless you have some idea who stole it.
Just hope the insurance settlement is enough to replace it which will be possible not taking into concideration the upgrades.

Some one somewhere will be selling parts I hope that the HD community reports anyone looking suspicious and kicks the **** out of them before handing them over to the police.
