I had lunch with a parts guy from my dealership today and he said that they were just notified by HD that batteries for the touring bikes are now MSRP $199.
Absolutely ridiculous.
Since when is lead a precious metal. Seems like they're applyingthe oil company logic of screw em all now, because we can!

Hello-
It probably costs a hundred dollars more this month to ship a battery because of fuel prices. The last one I bought from the dealer was $70.

I work for a company that manufactures batteries from the ground up. I can tell you that the price of lead has risen dramatically over the past 2 years. We purchase lead oxide and 60/40 solder and the increases have been unreal.

Well I was simply goin by the majoirty vote here on the forum that the Harley batteries are generally better although a bit more expensive and should be used to replace the original. I was expecting to pay $100 or so. Not $150.
Don't blame it on the forums. You think HD makes batteries?? See how much a Yuasa battery for your bike would have cost. It's the same thing you bought except it doesn't have a bar and shield on it.

I always find the price jumps interesting. So the price of batteries jumped up for whatever reason. I don't see why that should be the case for the batteries already purchased and in stock. Any new batteries purchased after the price increase makes sense, but doing it on something already in stock is just price gouging I think.

Same thing at the gas pump. Say the price per barrel goes from $100 to $120 per gallon yesterday. The gas that's at the station was already purchased at a (most likely) lower rate! It just bugs me how they immediately raise prices when the gas at that price won't make it to the pump for about a month! [:@]
But, when prices go down, don't they lower the prices immediately on stuff already purchased?
