Why are license plates always obscured?
Whenever somebody posts a pic of their ride, the license number is taped over or blacked out or digitally obscured. Is there some waya criminal cansteal your identity from looking at your plate number? Is there some other reason people don't want their plates visible? Anyone who rides on the same roads I do can get my plate number along with thousands of others. What am I missing here?

I think people get paranoid that they might be setting themselves up for a theft, yes. Like they'll trace your plate somehow, find out your address and try ripping off the bike would be the scenario that would come to mind. Myself I don't worry about it..........

"Secret identities are typical elements of crimefighters, vigilantes and superheroes that hide their identities both to preserve a private life and protect their loved ones from retaliation from their enemies."

I fuzz out other rider's bike plates if I get them in a shot. Just in case of the worst case scenario. There are some sicko mental folks out there.
I personally don't care, but if I catch someone else's plates, I fuzz them out to respect their privacy. Never know.

Maybe they don't want the nutjobs that we might **** off, or the LEO we gripe about, or the EX.... to somehow find us (and want to come home) It could be a theft deterent idea or an identity theft worry. I dunno, I used to do it too. Now that I have a vanity plate, I don't really care.
