Default Deer alerts / whistles

Does anyone use deer alerts or deer whistles on their cars / bikes? I see them quite a bit on cars in my area. We have a huge population of deer where I live. I’m curious if these alerts actually work or if they are justa gimmick. Does anyone use them? What’s your opinion on these things?

If you don’t know what they are the link below will explain it. There are dozens of companies that sell these things. The link below was the first one I found while doing a search.

I did a lot of reading/research on this a couple years ago, and the general conclusion was that they don't really work. All you can do is keep a sharp eye out for them, and learn what time of day to avoid certain areas. Around here, the fall is the worst for obvious reasons, but they can pop up anywhere anytime. Moose also scare the $hit out of me.

I hit a deer on my bike a couple of years ago. My bike had a deer whistle on it my insurance company gave me. In addition, I have worked numerous deer/auto accidents over the years. Many of the cars had the whistles on them. I conclude that they work about as well as a cheesy gremlin bell.

my insurance company ( state farm ) has a paper on their wall saying deer alerts / whistles haven't proven to even be 1 % effective in deterring deer.

Their a gimmick. Think about how a whistle works air blows in is compressed down and blows out the other side so if they were to deterr a deer it would be one behind you that you already went by. Get a guardian bell everyone knows they work.
