Counties and Townships may adopt regulations that establish Max A-weighted sound level based on measurement at a distance not less than 50 feet from center line of travel (Title 45, 4513.221): 1)82dBA at 35 mph or less; 2)86dBA at more than 35 mph.

RE: Safety/emissions inspection?
Snarly,
I understand that most municipalities have an ordinance on their books that regulate the sound levels. Few enforce the local law unless there is an ongoing problem (i.e. racing, burn-outs, etc.) that have citizens complaining. It seems most places do not require inspections of any kind...unless it is being re-titled.
What I have found here in Virginia is we get to pay for our annual license tabs, annual inspections and the city/county that I happen to live in also requires, each year, a "city sticker". So I have 1. License plate 2. plate tags, 3. Inspection sticker, 4. City sticker, 5. Military base sticker (optional).....all to identify one scooter.....It is challenging to find inconspicuous places for all of these stickers.

RE: Safety/emissions inspection?
I'm in Virginia too. We have to have both stickers safety inspection and county. I want to know where those of you who have to have county stickers put them. My Deluxe came with a plate for the inspection but nothing (that I'm aware of) for the county. I really don't want to put this ugly thing on my forks. Any ideas?

RE: Safety/emissions inspection?
DC,
I have placed my city/county sticker on the back side of the lay down licence plate holder. The safety inspection on the right and base sticker on the left of the inspection plate hanging off the front engine mount. I try to keep the stickers off of the frame and tins.

RE: Safety/emissions inspection?
There are no inspections on street bikes here in Kalifornia.I'm sure in time there will be emissions testing.
As far as dirt bikes, there are green stickers(offroad registration)and red stickers.
Red stickered bikes can only be riden 6 months out of the year. This is for emissions.

RE: Safety/emissions inspection?
They quit doing safety and emissions inspections in Florida a long time ago. It was just a waste of money. Cell phones are a much bigger problem than anything an inspection would catch. Maybe if they would do IQ, English and driver's tests???
