RE: Rode A Buell....Almost Died lol
I just traded my XB12Ss (Lightning) in for the FXSTC in December. Loved the Buell..big fun..just too small for longer rides...wish I could've had em both...
Maybe down the road I'll grab a used one..just for sh*ts & giggles... |
RE: Rode A Buell....Almost Died lol
56 on Tuesday, and torn.
The Harley 'Gumby' says Buell XB12r, the 'ol' racing 'Gumby' says Kawi ZX12R (raced for Kawi for 2 1/2 yrs in the 70's) I LOVE the looks of the black and gold XB12r. Saw 2 used ones at St Paul HD on Tues. As to the ride 'comfort', see sig pic. :D:D:D:D:D:D I'd actually help my youngest (23) buy a Buell, but he wants a Yamahammer. Not a cross country scoot like the Harley (? :D:D:D), but I'd love to have one in the stable. I ride them every chance I get at Demo days. Trying to compare them to a bagger is like a VW Beetle to a 500 series BMW or Mercedes. Or an F-16 to a Boeing pass jet. Like Bodyshot says, "Sh*ts and giggles" Most of the women (wives) in the Bond Slaves, have learned how to ride on Blasts. Momma doesn't care for the looks, so she is on a Suzuli 250 right now. Hopefully on ashovel FX later. |

MY wildest bike was a NORTON p-11 750 with 822 kit was young and foolish now my deluxe goes plenty fast and is quite comfotable for my 63 yr old ass... No tank rider for me. I'll just walk down the hill and f%#k em all..............

I rode sport bikes up until my late 20's. If you know how to handle them they are loads of fun. Corner better and faster acceleration than any Buell out there.
The best Crotch Rockets out there are the Liter Bikes (1000cc). The Kawi ZX12 and Hyabusa are fastest in a straight line but not very good at corners. I am considering getting a track bike cause even though I am all about American iron now, I can't get the speed out of my blood. |
RE: Rode A Buell....Almost Died lol
Yeah w/ practice im sure its be fine but for a 5 min demo ride at a local bike night it was NO GOOD! lol
Ive never had speed in my blood, I grew up on tight singletrack motorcycle ORV trails....HD suits me fine, plus i like to go slow so everyone can see me on my bike lol |
RE: Rode A Buell....Almost Died lol
I do not get the complaining about the excessive stopping power of the Buell Front BRakes and that the rear brakes do not work. I hate to tell you this boys but you should be using more front brake on your harleys as well. THe braking mechanics of a Harley is the same as a buel, Two wheel Bike weight transfers to front for more stopping power with the front than rear. This is why the rear brakes lock up on a panic stop because the weight is transfered to front and there is not enough weight on the rear tire to maintain the contact patch.
The higher center of gravity of the buell makes it feel like it is going to do a stoppie and you actually could if you wanted to. If you stop really hard you could probably get a sportster to do a stoppie. Harleys will stop a lot better than people give them credit for you just need to grab a whole lot of front brake. |

ORIGINAL: DannyZ71 Only "sport bike" I ever rode was a Suzuki Katana 750. Damn thing will scare the sh*t right out of ya if ya aren't used to it. I hated the fact that all the weight was on my wrists. Swore right then I'd never own one. As for your weight being on your wrists, yes, you do have to get used to that, but at road speeds, the wind coming off the bullet nose to your chest helps take some of that weight off your wrists. That said, I sold it because it wasn't fun/comfortable to ride anymore for me. But it was fun while I had it! |
