Moving to Canada - help

Moving to Canada - help
Hi guys,
I will be soon moving to our friendly neighbours in the North and wonder if anybody has had some experience with getting their US bikes registered in Canada. Some question come to mind which haven't been able to find answers yet:
-Are the Canadian regulations very strict in regards to noise? My medium-loud Rhinehard pipes are tolerated by US cops but on a recent vacation in Europe I noted how quite the Harleys all are - how does Canada compare? Are cops as tolerating as they are here in the US?
-Any modifications needed to make US bikes street legal inCanada?
-How long can one ride with aUS registration+insurance in Canada - is that a no-no or can be done for a few months/ a year or so?
-Looking at the high Canadian prices, am considering buying a second bike here and bring it with me but that depends on how difficult it is to get it into Canada.
Any experience you can share on this topic would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

You'll have no problems with you pipes, and as for regulations changing to a Canadian ownership it is different in each Province. Some make you change your speedo to KM and some don't. Bikes are as cheap here as the U.S. sometimes but the big difference is acc. All acc. are cheaper in the U.S.
Where are you moving to?
There are some great independent shops in my area and maybe i can help you with some roads to ride in the area you're moving to.
Life is Great....We all Ride!!!!!

Make sure you practice walking around angry.
It seems everyone here in Toronto is angry.
I'm obviously not in vogue here.
And yes buy there before you bring it here (Im working up here now).
Everything is expensive. If they have what you wantat all.

check out this site:
http://riv.ca/
It will answer the majority of your questions. You will have to have a federal inspection done and a provincial as the two don't recognize each other.

Found some info on that riv.ca webpage but still not clear how long one can ride with US plates. Read that the US drivers licence is good for 90 days upon 'settling in' - wonder how that#s defined when travliing back and forth. Anybody had some issues at the border with customs etc? I plan to get all my stuff shipped there but then going back and forth between Quebec and NY and the Northeastern states - it's so close...
Again any recommendations are highly appreciated.

I am in Toronto about 5 hours away.....but if you could choose the Province with the least amount of rules....Quebec is it. Besides from the women being spectacular it is a pretty open society....you're gonna love it. Great riding back across the border in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and upstate New York.....all great areas to ride. If i was to recommend 1 city to visit in Canada to an American....Montreal would be it....
Life is Great....We all Ride!!!!......some with beautiful woman all around.....

I'm fairly certain you can ride around with out of province/country registration and licensing for 6 months. After that you'll have to get insurance and registration in your province. Should take you till the winter season, then you have all winter to figure it out.
