Harley vs. Honda

RE: Harley vs. Honda
I want to get a Harley but I have one honest question:
Does Harley really outlast Honda in years or do they simply just have a higher resale value?

I don't know and I really don't care how my Harley stands up against a Honda. I did not make the purchase based on either longevity or resale value. I bought the HD because that is want I chose to ride. And because I plan on riding the hind end off of it. Resale is probably not going to be that spectacular anyway.
Also, please explain why I should without a doiubt choose Harley over Honda?
Are you looking to pick up a "family"? (the MOCO can shove their marketing)
Do you need to get some experience? You may want to purchase something lest costly so you won't feel as bad when you drop it on its side.
I am assuming you are an adult. Make up your own d@mn mind. I did.

I will only say that I've owned a few metric bikes, pretty decent bikes, but when I rode a Harley RK the first time, I knew at that moment what bike I wanted to own. I'm living and loving it. I don't think there's much to add to what's already been said, and no need to keep trying to convince you, you asked and I think you have been given excellent advice to both directions. Good luck with your decision and the main thing is to ride something, there's nothing like the wind in your face and the sound of a HD.

I think is is funny that all the metrics are building Harley 'clones' The V-twin that Harley and Indian used since the turn of the century wasn't copied until recently by the Japanese. The British never did, and the Itialian (Ducate) v'twin isn't recognizable. Obviously an attempt to cash in on the 'Harley' image. Anyway, ride safe, and enjoy.

Good point! I call that "Japanizing" something successful......much easier that inventing your own brand. The Japanese have always been great at "reverse engineering" something and then manufacturing it to a high quality standard. That's why all their bikes are Harley Davidson copies. I just find it annoying. [:@]

Man, I love my Road King!
Honestly?
1. guys who ride Harleys get more pu**y because chicks prefer Harleys
2. better looks, sound which helps #1
3. better resale because of #1 & #2
Any more questions?

RE: Harley vs. Honda
hey dude i'll tell you what.the only way to get what you paid for with a honda is to buy used, put a few things on it.dont ride too much, then sell it.i had a 01 shadow sabre.only had about 7500 miles on it.started burning oil seriously.so i decided i wanted a new bike.so i started looking at the vtx 1800 with the flames.the people at honda suck.ive tried and tried to work with them and they dismissed me.so after awhile i said f!@k it!i was talking to a friend and he said go get a harley.i started looking at the street bob on the internet and went to the dealer and bought it.need i mention i never rode a harley, didnt test ride or even seen the bike.i went to get it and ever since ive been in love.the price of hondas are actually going up.the vtx is the same price as the street bob but in the end you will get more of it back with the harley.to be honest i dont care how much i get back cause i dont plan on getting rid of my harley.also ive heard they both last quite awhile now days but the parts hanging on the harley seem to have alot more quality the the plastic honda parts.on my honda i would go somewhere and some one would ask what kind of harley is that.

I bought my first harley in December 05. When I decided to get back into riding after 25+ years The only decision I had to make was what Harley best suited me. Didn't even consider or look at anything else. If your buying something to enjoy, be proud of when you role on the throttle and ride down the street with a smile from ear to ear, buy a Harley. If you looking for a commutter to save money on transportation and you don't have that very big male ego we're so famous for, buy something else. Why buy a VW if you can aford a Mercedes.
