I would trust my brother and my son once he gets a little experience on his bike. Anyone else and the answer is NO.

RE: DO YOU LET PEOPLE RIDE YOUR BIKE?
My story,
I have a very good friend who I have been riding with for many years. One year while my pan was apart my wife and I decided to go to a costume party as James Dean & girl friend. My bud leant me his chopped panhead to complete the look and I gave him my caddy to drive. Ended up not taking the bike to the party due to rain, no biggy. Rode it back to his house the next day and low and behold he forgot to leave my car keys in the caddy. Jumped back on his bike to head over to his work, gave it a good kick and I must not have had the timing back far enough because it burst into flames! ! ! Turns out the fuel line was leaking,it backfired, and caught. By the time I put it out the wiring was toast, the seat was toast, and the paint on his tank was toast ( he is a killer airbrush artist ). Folks I have seen some nasty stuff in my life, but never have I felt as sick as that. He was obviously unhappy to say the least, but to his credit when he saw how torn up I was he said, well I wanted to repaint it anyhow. We settled up as best as we could, but I have always felt like I still owe him big time. From that time on I have not borrowed another persons bike for more then a trip up and down the street.

As for the general question, I agree with dhoward; it's just a thing, so if someone's qualified - and a friend, of course - why not?
