Default Florida Law (passed) putting Ethanol in our gas

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Florida is transitioning to 10% blends at all their pumps, like it or not. Our governor signed the bill into law.

I'm reading negative effects about running blends (dissolving gunk, hard on some internal parts, clogging fuel injection, lowering fuel mileage) I just don'tknow what is myth/truth. I can't find a thing published about motorcycle engines.

More specifically, does anyone know if this blend goes into the higher octane fuels as well? Or, is just the "regular" blended?

What does the MOCO say about using 10% ethanol blends in our bikes, if it was forced into the higher-octane products?

I'm hoping someone has this all figured out for us.

I've only heard it can cause your engine to run hotter... then again, I just heard that. I know just about nothing about ethanol

Somewhat "my bad". I just found another thread talking about this here in the general HD chat.

Sorry I duplicated!

I guess the only thing not stated yet, is whether or not the 10% blends end up in all grades of fuel, or just the "regular".

I always run the 92 (or 93) octane. I'm hoping these never get a "blend".

Some years ago in Missouri you could get both blended and unblended. I don't thinkwe haveunblended anymore. At least not in my neck of the woods. We went through the same thing you are experiancing with all the neg. talk from people who have not a clue.I'm sure if you putmeasuring devices to check the diff. you'ld find some but as far as the average person goes you'll notice no diff. and no ill effects.

Less power (btu's) in alcohol. HD has already figured into their engines/ecm/efi the ability to run 10% ethanol. You won't experience any damaging effects but a little loss in performance/mileage.

ethanol has been required in Iowa for years... It burns cleaner with fewer emmisions than non blended fuels. You can still buy unblended at most stations, as long as they arent blender dispensers (only 2 tanks and more than 2 products) They6 also require a ethanol sticker under each grade that has ethanol in it. I build gas stations in the midwest and the last few I have done were -e-85, reuglar unlead(no ethanol) silver(10% ethanol) and premium(no ethanol) when we went to it years ago the only issue people has (in cars) was plugged fuel filters, because it does clen out your fuel system. As for running hotter I have no clue, I run 10% ethanol in my cars and non ethanol in my bike

Texas has become very "progressive" over the years on energy. TX is now the largest wind power produced. Any way we can only buy E10, or E85 for Flex vehicles. The E10 will shave a little fuel milage off, but not much. But the E85 in my truck cuts mileage by 33%...I never buy it. Old bikes like my 1981 may need new rubber fuel hoses because ethanol eats old styles of rubber. I put on a modern harley fuel line..she runs like a champ on E10!

Poorboy, HD has designed all modern HDs to run E10 gas. They are NOT designed to run on E85 or any blend over 10%

I have never understood the ethenol camp.
1 gallon of gas used in tractors/trailers etc to produce 1.2 gallons of gas that is blended with ethanol.
WTF?
.2 fuel increase doesn't seem worth it.
