RE: Florida Law (passed) putting Ethanol in our gas
My point exactly. Some say less fuel mileage, som say more. Some say it burns hotter and some say cooler. The most common thig I hear is the rubber line thing and the sludge in the tank being dislodged and clogging everything up thing. No one I have spoke with has ever had any trouble with blended fuel. No worries mate.

Of course since it contains less kcalpotentialit gives your less mileage, not more! Since it has less energy content it burns cooler, not hotter. Haven't you ever seen alcohol burn in glass in a restaurant, vs. some gasoline (don't try this) in a pan? The idea is simply to make the gasoline supply stretch out and require less imports and less refining, thus increasing the available gas stocks. Because it requires more energy to produce than gasoline, and piping it requires dedicated H20 traps be added to the line, it's not an efficient fuel. Unfortunately until after the next one or two elections, we're stuck with the corn subsidies for ethanol production as an oxygenate. We've had EtOH in our fuels (in CA)since MTBE was removed, why do you think I only get 33.7 mpg in town?
