Stopped to help a biker today...

RE: Stopped to help a biker today...
If a fellow biker is broken down on the road, I stop to help (Harley or not). It's the right thing to do.
Regarding Karma, yes I believe it comes back around.
Ya did good.

I did it too on the first day I bought my bike...but my mistake was accidentally hitting the kill switch without realizing it. My buddy got a big kick out of it after he walked over and switched it back on for me.

I had a couple of moments of "WTF?" Actually tried to start it twice before I noticed the switch was off. I'm glad I didn't call for a ride!

I was headed home from work and I saw a guy and a gal on the side of the road.
They were decked out head to toe in new HD gear... paper tags...
Maybe two blocks from the dealership.
I stopped and walked back to them. He is just FUMING... "never shoulda bought a damn used bike...gonna take it back and tell them I don't want this damn thing..." (Evo Road King)
He asked if I would help push it back to the dealer... I said "just a sec, what is the issue?" "It just quit running... sputtered out and died" "It has gas".... "Yup, full tank"....... "is the gas turned on?"............................ blank stare..........................
Flipped the petcock to "ON" and it fires right up... He was sooooooooooooooooooooo embarrassed.
I am just glad I could help him and he not makea fool of himself. I hope the karma thing works and the next time I am about to make myself look like an ***, someone heps me out.
Have a great weekend!

I'm in tune with this line of thinking. If something like this hasn't happened to s all on a bike, it probably has somewhere else.
Nice of you to stop. Yeah, bet he was embarrassed.

I used to run a side business of computer repair.
Got a call for a dead monitor.
I went there, turned up the contrast and brightness.
He said, I don't know HOW it got turned down...he felt a little dumb.

How many of us in our "formative" years did this? It's real cool to make fun of a neewbie forgeting that we once were one. After 40 years I try to educate not put down anyone. If you don't want my advise fine, if ya want to listen that's cool. Is it the best advise, no, there is always someone who knows more. In any endevour it is a responsibily of the more experienced to help the less experienced.

RE: Stopped to help a biker today...
Good story.
I always stop to check on another rider if on the side of the road. The vast majority of the time he/she is just having a cigarette, making a phone call, taking a break, etc. But a couple times they needed some kind of help. One was an older fella (I think 84 yrs old??) on an older Gold Wing broken down about 20 miles east of El Centro,CA (that's the MIDDLE of the desert if you don't know the area). his cell phone had no signal. He was very appreciative - had a rear flat tire - I called him a towtruck and waited til it got there with him. As we waited I figured out who the nearest metric dealer/shop was and called aheadto let them know he was enroute on a flat-bed for a tire to give them a heads-up. Took maybe an hour of my road trip, but it was a pleasant experience and maybe someday someone will pay me back in kind.
