When I first went looking for a Harley, one of the things about softails that turned me off was that they don't vibrate at idle. I grew up watching old timers on vibrating Harleys with that sweet sound, and I got that impression of a Harley etched in my soul. I'd like to own a softail if only they could get them to vibrate more.

The other thing I don't understand is why the Heritage comes with bags. They cover up the hardtail look, which is the whole point of the softail. The other thing that confuses me is why someone would add chrome covers like Kurys to the swingarm. IMO you should be able to see the continuous line of the swingarm without any added bling.
I've got a 93 Softail that runs like a raped ape and vibrates even more. It's yours for the right price!! No seriously - That's the first new HD I ever bought and I've ridden that thing all over the US & Mexico. If you want a true frame mounted unbalanced HD, you'll need a pre 99 Softail. I baklanced the flywheels on the motor when I rebuilt her in 1999 but she still feels like my old rigid. The hardest thing for me to get used to on rubber mounts was the little motor shake you get when downshifting in the slow twisty. Ifelt that on my FXR and on my new Glide. They sure are smooth at speed though.

Number 1 Counterbalancing consists of a different crank ( Heavier crank than the A motors)

Number 2 More weight less power (thats why the B motors are in the soft tails not the touring bikes)

Number 3 Centrifigal force makes the B motors buzz thru the the floorboards due to the heavier crank

Number 4 A motors shake at idle , B motors dont

Number 5 As for The post that mentioned rubber mounted engines get more power to the ground how come MOROSO and tons of drag racers all run SOLID

mounted motors?

Number 6 Come to the table with some knowledge
#5 - Drag racers run solind mounted motors WITHOUT a counterbalance.

See the irony in your knowledge comment?

The quote regarded rubber vs. solid mounted to get the power to the ground and stay in place

I have owned 5 V8 Vegas I know torque

As for counterbalancing small blocks the 400 small block was so countered balanced it was EXTERNALLY balanced same with the 383 stroker motors

Which engines are you talking about?

A Dyna could handel a rigid-mounted TC96 A, just 95% of the folks who ride wouldn't enjoy it. The TCA still makes more power than the B... That was your #5 question, you didn't take about neither.

Now, my bike has both a rubber-mount and a counter-balancers, and puts out allot more power than either of those, pushing 165hp... (not stock), 120hp when it was basically sock.

And for drag bikes, depends what you are talking about, the Distroyer is like mine, has both, some of the really short stroke 4bangers are rigid...

We're talking about stock motors, right? A Harley rubber mounted motor puts more power to the pavement because it doesn't have to spin counterweights. Don't confuse people with talk about special high performance applications.

Add me to the list of vibration lovers. I don't care if there is more hp or not; I just like watching my apes communicate with me at stop lights. Kind of gives the bike some soul.

Not knocking rubber mounted, but don't the rubber mounts have to be replaced eventually? Also, an advantage of the rigid mounted is it contributes to the rigidity of the frame.
