Buying a bike sight unseen
Have you ever purchased a bike, car or big-ticket item sight unseen? At any given point there are close to 2000 Harley’s for sale on eBay. The majority of the bikes sold are purchased sight unseen. It is risky but you can get a good deal. I bought my bike on eBay. I only saw pictures until the bike was delivered. The guy who delivered the bike told me he hauls cars, bikes, boats etc all around the country to people that bought them and never saw them until they are delivered. In my case I spoke to the seller on the phone numerous times. I typed up a document then had my lawyer friend review it. It basically stated that the bike must be as advertised with no mechanical problems, cosmetic problems, clean title etc. It also stated that if the bike is not as advertised that the seller will be responsible for return shipment of the bike and he must offer a full refund. He would also be responsible for any legal fees I might incur if there are problems with the transaction. I sent the document to the seller and had him sign it. I did some other things too but the document was my “safety net” just in case there was a problem. I also got the seller’s home address; work address and work phone number (which I verified) just in case I had to track him down.
The bike was delivered as promised and is everything the seller said it would be. I got a great deal and am very pleased. So has anyone here bought a bike or other big ticket item on eBay or some other site and never saw it until it was delivered?

RE: Buying a bike sight unseen
I just bought my 97 Lowrider from someone on Craig's list, and only after I had a chance to see it for myself. I was watching a few different bikes on ebay Heritage Softail, Fatboy, and so on. But I was hesitant to even put a bid on something I hadn't seen for myself yet. Kinda sucked cuz the softail was within my budget and was my first choice. But no regrets with what I bought.

Good luck trying to collect on that were you to ever have to ship the bike back.
Very doubtful that he would actually follow through.

Yes off Ebay.I bought a '07 Heritage from Ron Parker of Harley Time Cylces and the transaction was great.
He had 100% feedback on almost 80 transactions. I called and talked to him numerous times
and am very happy with the bike! Well worth the money!

Bought mine on Harley for sale dot com or something like that. He was a brick and mortar licensed new/used motorcycle dealer. It worked out and no-one in the area had the year, make and color I wanted. It was still cheaper to even after the $700 shipping.
