Default Smoke'n Hot Jackets!

Warm weather will arrive some day in Minnesota. But I am researching new mesh and perforated jackets to purchase.

I would likea jacketthat can handle cool (liner) and warm weather, since it is not uncommon here in MNto start a day in the 40's and end up in the 90's. Rainproof would be nice also, plus I ama bigger guy so I won't fit into those slim skinny boy jackets either.

I guess I want it all.

What can you recommend?

I am leaning towards mesh right now, but am not too sure about wearing armor.

For my daily commute I got me one of the mesh jackets. WOrks extremely good since it lets all the wind get through which feels great on a hot day. If it gets colder or rainy I just pull a simple windbreaker over it which is good for wat or not so warm weather.
For the colder weather I have a thick real jacket so with the three different ones I'm comfortable in virtually every kind of weather.
The mesh jackets come with the highest recommendations but I do not think you will find one sinlge jacket for all weather!

I have a "FirstGear" mesh with armour and I love it, comes with zip out lining and allows lots of air in during warmer weather. Not water proof, bit I keep a rainsuite in the bags. Besides the average sizes it comes in tall sizes also.

I have a Vanson perf that I have had for years. Great product and they back it up. They don't fit everyone though. If you aren't "trim" you may not like it.

I bought this one from Leatherup.com and really like it. Its heavy padded leather the mesh on the front of the sleeves has really good airflow.

Funny you should ask. Just bought my third one yesterday.

Tourmaster Intake Air. (last years model at a discount)

http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/prod...ctid=269&cat=1

Mesh jacket with armor at elbows, shoulders, and back.

zip in rain/wind liner

zip in insulated liner (both liners can be used together as the insulated zips into the rain/wind liner)

Good fit adjustments at sleeves, waist, etc.

Best part, Simple stying that does not make you look like a Power Ranger, (at least the all black one) and not plastered with huge emblems of their name. Also, its the only one I have tried where the back armor does not make you feel like you are wearing a turtle shell on your back. The others I've had, i took the back armor out because of this.

i have tried Fieldsheer Mach 4 (great jacket, but see the Power Ranger Comment), Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 (Joe rocket stuff just does not seem to fit me very well, especially the sleeves. No matter how I adjust it, the elbow armor is never in the right place) And Vega.

So far, the Tourmaster is by far the best looking (IMHO) best fitting, most versatile, and best overall value.

However, I can make you a good deal on an XL Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0, in gray. Only worn about 4 times, if your so inclined.

I've been looking at that one myself. Looks like there's alot of leather to make it hot in the summer, though. That's not thecase?
