Cost of 100mi. service

RE: Cost of 100mi. service
All depends on what's included. Lot of places have there own lists of what is done at different service intervals. One example: the dealership I am at removes and lubricates both axles more frequently than is listed in the manual. (I'm in Oregon, lots of rain and lots of bikes that sit for decent periods of time during the winter). I've been in dealerships that do everything exactly by the book and I have seen places that will do less so that they can charge for a little less time and hopefully attract more customers. Simply put some places do what is specified by the MoCo, some do more and some do less. Sounds like the dealership is charging you for about 1 hour of labor at least going off labor rates in my area. Personally, I feelway to short for acomplete 1k. Heck the test ride after the service alone is at least 15 minutes. If you go this route(and I'm not saying you should or shouldn't it's obviously your decision),I would invest some of the cash you save in a service manual (and possibly a good torque wrench) andmake sure that everything that was supposed to be done, was done.

I have been quoted between $275 and $395 from local dealers and thats with Regular Oil. Found an indy that has been in the area for 30+ years and works only on Harleys will do $200 and that includes Amsoil in all 3 holes. Says his 1000 mile does even more than recommended and will stamp my book for warranty purpose
