you could draw a parallel to the bicycling fashion fad from the 90s, with all the chubby spandex wearers and yellow jersey euro advertising crap (oops they be wearin fingerless gloves too :-0anyway, they all look like a bunch of Lance Armstrongs to me just sayin...

 

Yah, I went overboard. I have a ton of T shirts, but then I wear jeans and T shirts all the time anyway. Yah, I bought the chaps, leather coat, and gloves because I want to be as safe as I can when I ride. Yah, I am enthused about riding, have a ton of catalogs, dozens of websites saved to my favorites, and joined HOG and this forum. I waited 62 years to get a Harley and I want to make the most of it before I wake up on the dirt side of grass. The more I talk, read, or whatever about motorcycles the more I know about my ride, riding safely, and know enough to be able to admire other riders bikes.

Many years ago, before the Harley craze, I was out riding with a Navy buddy who owned a Honda Magna. We stopped for gas and a smoke, he asked why I rode a Harley. Said the typical thing "You wouldn't understand even if I told you." He gave me a funny look. To his surprize I let him ride the shovel when he kicked it over (No electric foot). IMMEDIATELY he got that "I'm a bad *** biker" look and wasn't even in gear yet. I laughed my *** off. So every time I see a nubee, it reminds me of that day. They all gotta start somewhere?
I still enjoy walking into the the "Harley Department Store" in my old leathers and watch the parting of the Red Sea when I do. I buy my $18 item and leave.
