Default Exhaust pipes

Just noticed my rear cylinder exhausts out both sides. If I upgrade pipes does each cylinder have its own seperate pipe, and what benifit will this give me?
Thanks for any replies.

Having changed mine over within the last 2 weeks, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Better looks, better performance (depending on other upgrades to FI & breather), and finally, you will be amazed to find out that sound really does come out the left muffler! If you're a long distance rider, you will ward off the cracking of the rear Y pipe. That will blue your stock exhaust for sure. Get ready for a litte more sound.

you have many options......depending on the look and the performance. You can run a true dual system, a 2 into 1 header type system which in my opinion is the best way to go for performance issues(like a thunderheader), or you can get slip ons that will use the existing head pipes, and slip on where the current muffler is clamped on. But it all depends on what you want performance wise and the look and sound you want.

Those goofy stock EG headpipes actually work pretty well. If you get slipons that can bias flow to the right side you can get a few free horsepower. Hooker slipons (loud) can be set to torque on the left & power on the right. Super Trapp megaphone's (mellow, subdued) can be set up with 6 discs on the left and 15-22 discs on the right.
I have a 95" Ultra with AMS heads & Andrews tw26g cam. With 6 left & 15 right discs in Super Trapps I'm making 90 hp & 99 ftlbs torque. Had I gone to 22 discs on the right I could have picked up a few more hp but I wanted a quieter set up.

The y pipe on FLH's occasionally crack, it's not an epidemic. If you're worried about it breaking ,"if it ain't broke don't fix it". Harley goes to the extra expense of the crossover pipe for a reason, it gives better torque and drivability.
The reason to go to true duals is for a more distinctive sound and the looks.
