Out running a TORNADO

We had this tornado in our back yard last night. I could see it 10 miles away. I met a Road King going like a bat out of he!! in the driving rain and hail. Obviously trying to out run the tornado. I called home to tell our daughters to get in the basement. By the time I got home it was getting smaller and going back up into the clouds. We had no damage but there were some people that lost buildings and vehicles. No injuries that we have heard of. Heard tonight that they rated it an F2.

Second, your pictures look dramatic. Would you mind posting larger versions? When I click on them they open up very small. I would love to see them in more detail.

Trying to outrun tornadoes is like trying to outrun a train. Some times you win, some times you lose. I wouldn't want to be on a bike when it's time to lose. Actually, I wouldn't want to be in a train either!

I remember the F5 tornado that hit OKC back in 1999. It had the fastest air speed ever recorded on earth, 318 mph. It took me hours to find a way home that evening and it was impossible to get back to work the next day.

My aunt and her family lost everything in the Black Friday tornadoes here in Edmonton in '87. The primary was an F4 which briefly peaked as an F5.

RE: Out running a TORNADO
Grew up in SoDak, seen nuff of these critters in my life.
My brother and I were baling hay at a neighbors, storms rolled in, (it is like Ok, you can see them coming for hours on the horizon). We started for home, looked out the pass window, one coming across the fields. My brother decides to stop and take a pic. DUH!!!! Got the pic, and he won a contest in the newspaper for pic of the year with it. Should have used the winnings to buy his younger brother a new pair of briefs and jeans.
GLAD no one injured.
And I'll take the 'nados' over the Katrina's any day. They are destructive, but 'concentrated to a small area, perspectively, speaking.

Yeah, you can dodge a tornado relatively easy. You have to go 3 States away to dodge a hurricane! But at least with a hurricane, you know it's coming a day or two in advance.

TORNADOS SUCK!
I have chased and been chased by the Ba$turds all my life. Kind of exciting, but not much fun sometimes. April 10, 1979, we had our share in Wichita Falls, Vernon, Grandfield, Lawton etc. Kept us in work (contractor) for a few years, but lots of folks killed and injured. You can have em.
