My bad Ionvex. What time was that and were they running lights? There has never been a police presence at the event in the past, except maybe to cruise thru a few times during the day. This year they had a blacked out car on each end of town just sitting there waiting for someone to do something stupid. Rolled in off of PF about 11:30 and there he was sitting right out inplain sight as you head down the hill on C into Leland, the guy was writing tickets the whole time we were there. Left about 2:00 to do some riding because the music from the one tavern was way too loud and there was one cop sitting on C in Leland, one at the corner of PF and C anda couple of cop cars hiding behind barns heading north on PF a few miles out of Leland. I heard that some of the counties got grants for traffic enforcement and they have been writing tickets big time, at least in Fond duLac, Dodge, Dane and Sauk counties.

It probably was around the time you were arriving. One cop had followed a bike south on PF and then lit him up when they made the turn onto C towards Leland.

 

Wow, amazing. Must have been close to 1000 bikes there by the time I left (1:30). I also arrived about 11:30, coming up C, nodded at the county sheriff on S side of town. Amazing to watch the steady stream that just kept coming - and coming and coming. Great to see the mix of bikes, especially the vintage stuff. Definitely not your usual HD gathering.

About 350 miles RT for me. Great day for a ride. Hopeyou guys in WI know how good you have it with all that great paved county blacktop. I'll be back.

 

Thanks for coming Barkster, sorry we missed you. Yah, it was a beautiful day to ride and don't tell anybody in Illinois but the hilly countryin western Wisconsin is some of the best riding in the upper midwest.

 

Don't want to scare you Redcat but... some of us in IL know that. "Best riding in upper midwest..." understates it. Some of the best anywhere.
