Default New bike-when to do a stage 1 and dyno?

I have an 2006 Dyna Wide Glide and only have 150 miles on it ( just got it in January ). I have SE II's on it now. I know I need to remap the ECM. My question is, should I ride it to 500 or so miles, wait till the 1000 mile service, or go ahead and add the SE AC and get a SERT and dyno the bike now?

The bike runs fairly well, but will pop sometimes with deceleration-I know it is too lean. On the other hand, it would seem better to break the bike in a little more before dyno tuning it with a SERT. I am a little reluctant to buy the SERT now and download a map myself, but that is probably the best immediate solution. If I knew someone who uses a SERT I would probably do the download myself ( with their help ) and then wait another 500-1000 miles. I guess I have SERT-a-phobia! From what I have learned the SERT is probably the way to go but I am somewhat overwhelmed when I read the users manual.

Any thoughts on what I gain or lose by using a SERT and dyno now with only 150 miles on the bike? Does a break in period result in a better dyno tune later? I absolutely love my 06 WG and want to do what is right.

Go ahead and put on the SERT now with a canned map and then get it dyno't at the 1000 mile service.

I'm sorry, I didn't answer the whole question. You don't want to dyno the bike until at least 1000 miles so that the motor is broken in a little. In order to dyno it they have to do several high rpm runs which would not be good on a brand new motor.

Good choice going with the SERT. Once you get it all fine tuned you're gonna have one great running bike.

Thats kinda what I thought. It can't be good for the engine to be running lean. I suppose the canned map will get me to the point that the bike will run better. I like the idea of waiting on the dyno tune-it would seem to make the most sense.

thanks!

I wouldn't be in hurry. Ride it, get to know it. Any time after breakin. For me at least, 1k mi before going on a dyno.. jmo
