Times change. Definition of bikers in the 40's is different than say the 70's and different again today. Aww, who really cares? Now, if you drive a pickup and call yourself a trucker ..... JUST KIDDING! So, really, I don't care, but it's just human nature for people to rag on others who don't fit their "definition". I did find humor on a warm summer day (85+) when a couple pulled up to a dealership party in their HD pickup and got out fully dressed to ride, chaps, leather and all the other HD gear you can buy. I figured they were just those kind of people who dress the part whether they have their bike with them or not. Later, when I was talking to my buddy the parts manager, he pointed them out and told me they don't own a bike, never have, but they buy a shitload of motorcycle apparel and show up and support all the dealer functions. So, I guess to each his own.

I see some post and replies around that reference a biker wannabe, OK what do you feel you do that makes you a REAL biker ?? I see people making fun of how others dress and act and would just like to know how a "real biker" is supposed to dress & act.
Ummm...wouldn't that be giving away the top secret code of the "real" biker if any of that info was leaked out?

I ride 15-20k year-8 month season- I've had 6 bikes in about 35yrs. I like to getthe bikethe way I like it and then keep it for a while. I drive my car when it rains or snows, although I've riden in both as recent as last month in snow and last week in rain. I dont care if I'm considered a biker or not.

...but I guess I get bent when I see others making fun of guys who may be new to this and wonder why they are giving them crap about how they dress and act. ....
When I hear or read others making fun of the folks who might be new, it makes me wonder if the one's making fun aren't the real "wannebes."
Me? I'm 56. Got my first motorcylce at age 12; have ridden many makes and models over the years; currently own a Wide Glide and an Ultra; I wear what I want to wear; I don't care what others wear or ride. I don't care if I'm calleda "biker" or not. I just like motorcyles.

Pretty much anyway they want. A "real biker" is a person that has a lifetime relationship with motorcycles. Doesn't matter what make, just as long as they ride. 80% of all the people I've met on motorcycles are gone in a few years. While they own a bike they can quote makes, models, numbers, statistics, etc., etc. They *know* more about *every* bike than anyone, then they're gone..........<shrug> They ain't bikers.

I know some "real" 1%ers. I know some "real" Ironbut riders. I know a lot of normal, average people that *ride*. They're all "real bikers". Some get along, others wouldn't, but since it's a lifetime commitment for 'em they're all "real bikers".

Excellent!!! Couldn't have said it better

Old? Who's old? The young guys, that would be the 20 and 30 somethings, evidently think we rule. They're all the time wanting to ride with us, 'cause they say, "Y'all know how to have fun."

I have ridden motorcycles for 30 years but i dont consider myself a "biker". I like the term "motorcycle enthusiast". Ride safe
