RE: Real "Biker"
I don'tclaim to know what a "real" biker is...........I do know at leastone aspect of immaturity/childish behavior: Makingfun of or trashing someone else because they are different than you. For those of you who do that................well, if the shoe fits!...............

Not again! Just when I thought I had my identity worked out with my innerself, someone has to come along and make me question what I am again. Well at one time I thought the real definition of biker applied to me but, then that was 40 years ago in another life. Now I would say I am not a biker, just somebody who can't ride enough, talk enough, fix enough, modify enough, build enoughand generally do enough that has to do with motorcycles.
So will somebody PLEASE, tell who I am again?

RE: Real "Biker"
I am a real biker.
I ride every day rain or shine the only time I drive my truck if I need to haul something.
Almost 700,000 miles on bikes so far and that is not counting 40 years of racing.
I do all my own work the last time a dealer worked on one of my bikes was 1970
I ride ATGATT
In my mind I am a biker

I guess it means different things to different people, but for me it is easier to point out things that aren't something a biker would do instead of pointing out things that a biker would do.
One thing that comes to mind is a friend of mine who bought his first bike, a 2003 Heritage, at the age of 50. He averages 300 miles per year and 200 of them is a rotary club ride once a year.
He is a great guy and a very close friend of mine and his riding skills are amazing for a guy who rides two up with a total of about 1,000 miles riding experience, but he ain't no biker.
Another thing that comes to mind is a real biker will be riding whatever he can afford, even if it's a piece of junk, and he will be riding it alot, even in less than perfect weather. A person who truly loves the ride will put up with being cold and wet sometimes if that is the only way to get the rush.
It doesn't matter to me how a person dresses, acts or talks. All that matters is his or her love of being on bikes. Not seeing how much attention they can draw because they are on a fancy bike a few hundred miles a year.
Then again, I try not to judge people because I don't like being judged. I am as much of a cowboy as I am a biker. I like to wear my snakeskin boots and brushpoppers with the sleeves cut out when I ride. When someone looks at me funny I ask them "What's the matter? You don't like bikers or you don't like cowboys?"

Wait a minute, I rode a motorcycle to work today, and itwas snowing - YOU MEAN I'M CANADIAN AND MY PARENTS DID NOT TELL ME! Quick, someone learn me the lyrics to the Canadian Anthem!
By the way, it is bullshit that it was snowing in central Pa this morning - it is April 30th for God's sake!
