Real "Biker"

I ride because I love to ride... and I ride alot.I ride in the rain and in the cold. I've done it for 38 glorious years now. I do it for me and for me alone... because it makes me feel alive. Not riding means I'm not quite right with the world and I don't like that feeling. I've never considered myself a bad *** or associated with an MC, but I get called a biker all the time. Why? Because I ride. I ALWAYS ride!
The clothes, the attitudes, the bravado, and all the rest is just BS. Its nothing more than a pitiful mockery of a passionate love for all things with two wheels and the feel of a brisk wind hitting your face and crawling up your pants leg ona cold winter morning. No clothes or brand of bike will ever instill that passion in anyone. It has to come from within... and it can't be torn down, built up,or even judged from the outside. If the passion is there you will know it, and the rest of the world will see it in you. If its not there, you come across as a tattooed, bearded, leather clad clown.
Any more stupid questions?

If you have to ask..........
Go to the cowboy post and ask what a "real" cowboy is
Go to theNFL post ask what a "real"football playeris
Go to the Playboy post and ask what a "real" woman is
Go to the 18-wheeler post and ask what a "real" trucker is
Then come back and give us a 50-post essay!!!

RE: Real "Biker"
wow, this arguement again? I've been here a month or so, and this is like the third time.
I've ridden since I was a child. I will ride till I die, and know fullwell I could die doing it. I dont want to be part of a group (unless im on a race track, and ill be trying to pass that grouop, unsuccessfully), I dont want to hang out with Rico McFancyPants down at starbucks, or be a walking HD sign. I just want to ride the **** out of my bike and be on my way.
Im going to be 27 very soon, and i've been riding 21 years. I dont judge other people and how they ride, im to busy out riding myself.

Back in my younger and more "biker-ish" days I too would make fun of things that didn't look or act the way I did. I hung around with a fairly hard core contingent and felt that a "real biker" was at least like me if not rougher and tougher. I made fun of the EVO (used to ride a shovel), made fun of the guys coming to the shop "driving mercedes, wearing slip-ons with no socks, lick and stick tattoo's and short hair cuts and so on."
Any more I've come to realize biker is nothing more than a term, most often associated with Harley's, that means someone who rides a motorcycle-PERIOD.
Looking back on it, if it wasn't for the guys with the cash to buy the bikes and if it wasn't for Harley eschewing the "bad boy" and the "1%er" image as well as making their stores into mainstream showrooms, who knows what would have transpired. So a biker is a motorcycle rider-a wannabe is someone who wants to be riding a motorcycle.
Wanna Be's are still thought by some as those "side walk commando's" with jeans, boots, Harley bandana and a "chaindriven wallet."
We were ALL wannabe's once in our lives so we can't get too smug, elitist or full of our bad boy selves when talking about others.
There will always be those who thinks their s**t doesn't stink cause they ride a Harley and you just have to ignore them. I used to be one of those and have since GROWN UP!
Pardon the rant :-).

I would say bezoar and Mud are probably about as authentic as you can get. I have ridden on and off for 35 years. More on then off for sure. A real biker I think is a stupid term. If you must ask I would say anyone that desires to ride and does qualify's. With the advancement of technology and comfort bikes have become more acceptable with the average person. I think that a good thing and benefits everyone!
