SHHHHH, KEEP it quiet, Steve, or EVERYONE will want to go to the Hills 'off season'.
Not really, GLAD you had a good ride, and I have multiple friends that live in the Hills area, including Belle Fourche. There is a SUPER campground, just south of Belle Fourche, Wyatt's Hideaway, Kent and Marta Wyatt. Friends and run an awesome site there.
For those of you who want to see the Black Hills, as they should and can be seen, hit them in May or Sept. NO traffic, prices are "NORMAL" and the ppl LOVE to see you roll thru. Temps and weather are SUPER. And the grass will be GREEN. Best part, only 549,999 less scoots sharing the roads. Worst part, NO T SHIRT VENDORS. And I just have Momma ride topless, fills that Sturgis "BOOB" vacuum.

I too ride out to the Black Hills every year the weekend after Labor Day.
Kids are back in school so most of the "summer" tourists are gone. Basically have the place to ourselves, except for those motorhomes pulling the Honda CRV's up and around the Needles Highway. Keep your eye's peeled.

We did a 6000 mile loop of the West starting here in WA summer before last and made a point of hitting the black hills the Monday following the rally.
It was the best time we've had after 5 trips there during rally week.
Got a nice room in Keystone for $50 night and rode the hills without the hords.
