Personally, I couldn't care less what brand of bike someone rides, if they're happy with it, ride with some common horse-sense & aren't into it as a "trend".
That said, I've ridden everything from Honda 90s to Bultaco & Husquvarna enduro machines to 'Zuki street bikes.

I'm stickin' with my beloved Road King. My slow, expensive, loud, rumbly, beautiful Road King.

Ride safe, y'all...

I have a co-worker that anytime someone mentions a Harley they just shake their head in discuss and badmouth the bike as American junk, he has a BMW, nice bike and all, but yesterday as he was getting ready to leave work and starting his water cooled beast, a unusal amount of smoke came from the handlebars, the battery exploded, acid all over the bike, his pants caught on fire and he drop the bike. After using the extingusher on him and the bike the only thing I could say was....tee hee

That smoke is REALLY hard to put back in.

I kinda had to laugh that you said an unusual amout, as if ther is normally a small amount that comes out whenever he starts the bike.
Jumpman, I knew I could count on you to see the subtle humor there...

But you owning a zuki and being on a Harley forum does kinda back up his statement Even with your little unconvincing disclaimer...

There are two kinds of riders the ones that own a harley and the ones that wish they did!!!!
That's not always true. I'mliving example. And I can also afford just about anyone of them I'd want to. HD didn't make one bike with all the features I wanted, and the Vrod was the closest, but I didn't like the riding position. I'm just as happy with my ride as you guys are with yours, and I'm just as proud of it as you guys are of yours. I get the same exact feeling when I ride my Zuki as you do when you ride your Harley.
And I dont' go around bashing bikes no matter who makes them. All mfg's have put out junk models and lemons on occasion. It's going to happen to all of them, inlcuding HD. No matter how much tuning or mods done to a vtwin production cruiser, boring out, etc...from any mfg's cruiser vtwin bike, it will still not beat any production sport bike that's around 1000cc or more stock, taken into consideration theboth riders have equivalent skills. So talking about speed of an HD or just about any cruiser compared to most sport bikes is kind of useless.
And if any of you are wondering whya Zuki rider is posting in an HD forum. I belong to several mfg forums. I have to admit, I find this one more entertaining.

If HD is soooo bad in the eyes of some, how come all, and I do me all of the metric manufacturers keep trying to duplicate (never equal) the Harley? Just look @ their product lines. As it says on one of my shirts "You either have a Harley or you don't"

I'll never dispute the fact that the stock sport bikes are faster than stock/modified H-D's....The point is that H-D riders ARE NOT concerned with speed or being the fastest bike on the block.
I consider jap bikes as good "training devices" for an H-D....A set of training wheels, so to speak.

Those who choose to stay with jap bikes is a personal choice...No problem

You will find this forum entertaining.....as would a Confederate Soldier stumbling into a Union camp....Welcome!!!!!
Bob,
I've been coming to this forum for over a year. I've been questioned as to why I come here, and I mentioned that above. Never denied being a rice rider, never I've not had any "you're not welcome here" attitudes from anyone. Nor have I seen that from anyone on the Suzuki forum that I freqent the most either for HD riders. Maybe at one time they were traing wheels, years ago, but now their engine sizes compare

I'm not bashing HD, I'm merely stating that there weren't any with all the features that I wanted in a bike in one package. I don't mind getting ribbed at all. I've never deniedthat most of theJapanese designs mimicked HD in appearance. That's because HD was one of the first, and they make some great looking bikes. I like all of their designs besides some of the sportsters. I ride and sometimes I can't tellthe differanceat a distance. I had a sporty rider ask me if my Zuki was a Softail once. Although, when I think of power cruisers, I feel the Yamaha V-Max was the first, and that the power cruiser styling is their invention, as the meanstreak/marauder were out before the v-rod.

"Yeah, we just hang out here to entertain Kawazuki riders...if you hang around a strictlyHD forum, you're going to hear metrics get bashed once in awhile...suck it up...
comes with the territory...[sm=laughat.gif] "

Not a problem Nighttrain. I can take it.

it's like when i told a friend about riding the dragon.... he said i bet my cbr will rip the dragon... i said yes it will, but i look better crusing the dragon......hehehe i'm not going to bash anyones ride... most that do bash a harley can't afford 1/or bash anyones ride are just stupid no matter what it is...i have had all kinds, then like most i got out of it for years then when i was ready to ride again i decided i wanted a piece of American history/pride/way of life- the way it makes me feel when riding.... and that is what owning a Harley means to me.... i love the way my dyna lowrider vibrates so hard it looks like it's bunny hopping..lol and chicks damn near get off just setting on it....hehehe now when i get it paid for i will get a RC for the long haul. yes Harley technology is 30/40 years outdated.. the old saying is K.I.S.S. works for me
